Abstract

Individuals with painful pasts will view their world negatively, which can hinder their search for meaning in life. They will be freed from negative emotions, understand events more wisely, and build more meaningful life when they practice forgiveness. Bullying can have long term effects on a person's psychological well-being, such as the ability to forgive and the search for meaning in life. This study aims to investigate the relationship between forgiveness and meaning in life among young adults who experienced bullying during adolescence. The study employs a quantitative correlational approach using incidental sampling techniques. The study
subjects consisted of 200 individuals aged 18-25 who had experienced bullying between the ages of 12-17. The measurement tools used were the Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations Scale (TRIMS) to measure forgiveness and the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) to measure meaning in life. The results of the analysis using the Spearman Rho test
showed a significant relationship between forgiveness and meaning in life. The higher an individual's ability to forgive, the higher the meaning in life they perceive. The findings of this study reinforce the understanding that forgiveness plays a crucial role in supporting individuals in processing bullying experiences and building a healthier and more positive sense of meaning in life.
