Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production needs of cabbage (Brassica oleracea) in Magetan Regency from 2019 to 2024, focusing on the use of production inputs such as land, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, labor, and capital. Using a descriptive quantitative approach and secondary data from BPS and the Department of Agriculture, the research examines production trends, local consumption, and surplus distribution. Results show that production fluctuated, with the highest in 2019 (18,503.40 tons) and the lowest in 2023 (11,870.00 tons), while local consumption remained around 2,300–2,400 tons per year. This indicates an average surplus of 8,720–15,353 tons annually. Although cabbage farming is economically feasible with an R/C ratio greater than 3.0, farmers face challenges related to climate change, pests, and inefficient distribution. The study concludes that strengthening external distribution networks and developing processed products are essential to sustain cabbage farming and enhance farmers’ welfare in Magetan.
