Abstract

This research is motivated by the need to develop a learning model in writing essays for students and lecturers. The purpose of this study is to develop a model design and describe the effectiveness of the results of the CORRECT model development in improving English essay writing skills for students used in Higher Education. This research is development research (R & D) using the ADDIE model. This research was conducted at Lancang Kuning University. The data in this study came from primary data in the form of results from data collection instruments and direct observations of students and direct interviews with lecturers. The data collection procedure was carried out by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation studies. The data analysis process was carried out using analysis techniques through the SPSS application program. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded as follows: 1) The stages of the collaborative reflective teaching (CORRECT) learning model development process consist of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. 2) The CORRECT model is said to be effective because the results of the t-test show that the t-count value of 3.676 is greater than the t table (3.676 > 1.692), and the significance value obtained is 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (H₁) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H₀) is rejected. Thus, there is a significant difference between the experimental class that applies the Collaborative Reflective Teaching (CORRECT) model and the control class that does not use the model in improving students' essay writing skills.
