Abstract

Suicidal ideation is the process of acting on suicidal thoughts and is the final solution to the problems faced. Suicidal ideation can have internal and external effects. This study aims to investigate the influence of social support on suicidal ideation among students in Malang. This study employs non-probability sampling with accidental sampling techniques, and the research sample includes 265 active students in Malang. The study utilizes the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the Revised-Suicide Ideation Scale (R-SIS) as research instruments. Additionally, the research analysis technique uses multiple linear regression to test the hypotheses regarding significant others, family, and friends in this study. There are two findings in this study. First, there is a significant influence on suicidal ideation, and family support acts as a predictor of suicidal ideation, as evidenced by a significance level of sig <.001. In other words, the lower the social support and family support, the higher the suicidal ideation among students
