Abstract
This research aims to determine the influence of farmer institutions on local economic development in Sumbergondo Village. The main focus of this research is on the activities of farmer groups that play a significant role in the socio-economic structure of the Sumbergondo Village community. The background of this research stems from the finding of complex problems hindering agricultural sustainability, namely farmers' access to markets, low mastery of modern agricultural technology, and limited capital.
The research employed a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, utilizing probability sampling and simple random sampling techniques. Slovin's formula was used to determine the sample size. The data collection technique involved distributing research instruments in the form of questionnaires. The research results were analyzed through Douglas North's new institutional economics theory, which emphasizes the importance of institutions in influencing economic performance and social change.
The research results indicate that farmer institutions, particularly farmer groups in Sumbergondo, have an influence on local economic development. This result was obtained through simple linear regression analysis with a significance level of less than 0.001. The research conclusion affirms that farmer institutions in Sumbergondo Village not only function as organizational platforms but also act as key drivers in mobilizing existing economic activities. This research recommends consistent capacity development, active collaboration with various stakeholders, the development of marketing strategies, and proactive efforts in developing cultivation and post-harvest methods.
