HUBUNGAN ANTARA PENYESUAIAN DIRI DAN HOMESICKNESS PADA MAHASANTRI DI STEI HAMFARA DIMODERASI OLEH DUKUNGAN SOSIAL

Homesickness is a negative emotional condition experienced by individuals when they are away from home and familiar environments, often accompanied by difficulties in adapting to new surroundings. This phenomenon is commonly found among individuals who must leave their families and hometowns to pursue education elsewhere. This study aims to examine the role of social support as a moderator in the relationship between self-adjustment and homesickness.The research employed a quantitative method involving 198 first- and second-year Islamic boarding school university students who came from outside the region and had no relatives or family in the new environment. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique, and data were analyzed using Hayes’ PROCESS Macro Model 1. The findings indicate that social support significantly moderates the relationship between self-adjustment and homesickness. This suggests that the strength of the relationship between self-adjustment and homesickness varies depending on the level of social support received.
