Abstract
Early marriage remains a common phenomenon in various regions, including Malang City. This condition often leads to various psychological consequences for women, particularly emotional pressures such as feelings of guilt and shame. These emotions can negatively affect many aspects of life, including overall quality of life. This study aims to determine the influence of guilt and shame on the quality of life among women who married at an early age in Malang City. This research uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 206 women who married early, selected through purposive sampling. Instruments used to measure the variables include the Indonesian version of WHOQOL-BREF for quality of life, and the Offense-Related Feelings of Shame and Guilt (ORGS) scale to measure feelings of guilt and shame. Data analysis in testing the main hypothesis was carried out using multiple linear regression test. The results show that guilt and shame significantly affect quality of life (p < 0.001), with a contribution of 27,4% (Adjusted R² = 0,274). The higher the level of guilt and shame experienced, the lower the quality of life reported by the women. These findings highlight the importance of addressing psychological aspects in the context of early marriage and the need for interventions that enhance women’s quality of life through emotional and social support.
