Abstract
A bridge is a land transportation infrastructure that allows vehicles or pedestrians to cross challenging terrains such as rivers, lakes, highways, railways, and others. Bridges can be constructed using various types of superstructures, including steel box girders. Steel box girders are a type of superstructure that utilizes high-strength steel. This study aims to redesign the superstructure of the Flyover Bridge on Basuki Rahmat Street, Tanjungpinang, particularly on section III, by replacing the existing 35-meter prestressed concrete I-girders with steel box girders. The design is carried out based on the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications 2017 and SNI 1725-2016, using STAADPro software for structural analysis. The analysis yielded a moment capacity (Mu) of 37,594.04 kNm and a shear force (Vu) of 4,296.46 kN. The research includes the design of the deck slab, main girders, and connections, as well as the evaluation of load combinations based on traffic and environmental conditions. The results show that the redesigned steel box girder superstructure is safe and efficient in supporting the design loads.
