Abstract

Concrete is one of the most essential components in building construction, considering its function as a primary structural element widely applied by the public. Concrete is a mixture of Portland cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, water, and sometimes additional materials such as chemical admixtures, fibers, or non-chemical additives in certain proportions. Consol CR-93 is an additive produced by Kimia Konstruksi Indonesia. It is stated that CR-93 is a water-soluble polymer used to enhance the quality and strength of concrete while reducing cement consumption. This study aims to determine the effect of the Consol CR-93 additive on concrete in terms of compressive strength and split tensile strength. The test uses three mixture variations and different curing ages, namely 0%, 0.5%, and 1% with curing periods of 7 days, 14 days, and 28 days for each variant, with a target strength of 20 MPa. The highest compressive strength obtained in the study was 33.52 MPa with a 0.5% additive at 7 days of curing, while the highest split tensile strength was 2.29 MPa with a 0.5% additive at 14 days of curing. The results show that not only the curing age and additive dosage in fresh concrete affect the compressive and split tensile strength, but also the concrete age itself influences the mechanical properties of the specimen.
