Abstract

The quarter-life crisis is a phase of identity crisis commonly experienced by individuals in early adulthood, especially during transitional periods such as job seeking. During this phase, individuals are vulnerable to psychological pressure, which can affect their mental health and life direction. Social support is believed to be one of the protective factors that can help individuals navigate this challenging period. This study aims to examine the relationship between social support and the quarter-life crisis among early adults actively seeking employment. The participants consisted of 163 individuals aged 18–25 years in Malang who were in the process of job searching. The instruments used were the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the Quarter-Life Crisis Scale. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation. The results showed a significant negative correlation between social support and the quarter-life crisis (r = -0,385; p < 0,01). This indicates that the higher the perceived social support, the lower the level of quarter-life crisis experienced by individuals. These findings highlight the importance of social support in helping early adults cope with identity crises during the job-seeking phase.
