HUBUNGAN FATHERLESS DENGAN AVOIDANT ATTACHMENT STYLE PADA WANITA DEWASA AWAL

This study aims to examine the relationship between fatherlessness and avoidant
attachment style among women aged 18 to 30. Fatherlessness in this context refers to the
absence of a father figure—physically, emotionally, or socially—in an individual’s life.
Avoidant attachment style is characterized by a tendency to maintain distance in
interpersonal relationships and difficulty in trusting or relying on others. Utilizing a
quantitative correlational design, this research involved 384 randomly selected female
respondents within the specified age range. Measurement tools included a validated and
reliable Fatherlessness Scale and Avoidant Attachment Style Scale. Data analysis revealed a
positive correlation between fatherlessness and avoidant attachment style, with a correlation
coefficient of r = 0.11 and a significance level of p < 0.05. These findings suggest that the
absence of a father figure is associated with the development of avoidant attachment
tendencies among young adult women. The study is expected to offer insights for
psychological practitioners in understanding how family structure may influence individuals’
interpersonal dynamics.
