Abstract

Working single mothers often encounter the burden of dual roles, which can lead to work–family conflict between occupational demands and family responsibilities. This conflict has the potential to negatively affect psychological wellbeing, both emotionally and socially. This study aims to examine the relationship between work–family conflict and psychological wellbeing in working single mothers. The research employed a quantitative approach with a sample of 287 working single mothers, obtained through accidental sampling.. The criteria for this research includes single mothers who have permanent or non-permanent job. The instruments used in this research are Work–Family Conflict Scale which is to assess the level of conflict between work and family roles, and Psychological Wellbeing Scale which is to measure the overall psychological wellbeing of participants. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation method. The results revealed a significant negative correlation between work–family conflict and psychological wellbeing (r = –0.309; p < 0.001), indicating that higher levels of work–family conflict are associated with lower levels of psychological wellbeing.
