Abstract
This study emphasizes the impact of smartphones and social media on the lives of teenagers, particularly in Indonesia, where internet users number 215 million, with a significant number born between 1997 and 2012. While social media offers self-expression and access to education, it also leads to negative effects such as addiction, negative emotions, anxiety, depression, and decreased academic performance among teenagers. Using the principles of user-centered design, this study aims to create an application that limits access to social media. The research involves needs analysis through interviews with high school students in Malang City. The interview results were analyzed using the empathy map technique, which categorized user needs into three personas based on social media usage duration. The identified features for the application refer to user personas, such as the Smart System Before and After exceeding usage limits, Monitoring & Visualization (Social Media Usage), and Control & Restriction (Blocking social media) both flexibly and strictly. Design testing was conducted using the System Usability Testing method, yielding a score of 76,7, categorized as an acceptable grade C. Implementation utilized the Kotlin programming language and supporting frameworks such as Firebase and Android Accessibility Service. System testing was performed using BlackBox Testing and User Acceptance Testing, with test results indicating that the application functions properly and users find the developed application sufficiently acceptable.
