UPAYA CELEBRITY DIPLOMACY LEONARDO DICAPRIO DALAM ISU PERUBAHAN IKLIM TRANSNASIONAL

Climate change has emerged as one of the greatest challenges facing with impacts that transcend national borders. In the context of modern international relations, non-state actors such as celebrities are increasingly playing influential roles in global diplomacy. This study aims to analyze how Leonardo
DiCaprio, a renowned Hollywood actor and environmental activist, engages in celebrity diplomacy to advocate for climate change awareness. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and literature review method, this research explores DiCaprio's strategies through social media platforms, documentary
films, and the establishment of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation (LDF) to build public awareness and
mobilize environmental action. The findings show that DiCaprio effectively utilizes his celebrity status as a diplomatic tool to convey environmental messages in various international forums, including the United Nations. Nevertheless, celebrity diplomacy continues to face challenges in terms of legitimacy
and message consistency. This study demonstrates that celebrity diplomacy can serve as a strategic instrument to strengthen global environmental diplomacy and broaden public engagement with
transnational issues
