Abstract
Organizational commitment is one of the factors that is quite important for a company because with high employee commitment to the company, it is very possible that the company will grow rapidly. Employees who have a commitment to the organization tend to have high work motivation. In a dynamic and competitive work environment, employees are required to be able to adapt to jobs that are not in accordance with their skills. These conditions can affect the turnover rate in an agency. This study aims to determine the relationship between organizational commitment and work motivation in civil servants (PNS) at the Barito Kuala Regency Education Office. The number of respondents was 60 civil servants who had worked for at least one year. The method used is a quantitative method with Pearson correlation analysis technique. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between organizational commitment and work motivation (ρ = 0.122; p = 0.351). This shows that organizational commitment does not directly affect employee work motivation. Other factors such as work environment, employer support, and reward systems are likely to be more dominant in influencing work motivation. This study also found that the measurement instrument is not completely valid and reliable. Therefore, it is recommended for future research to refine the instrument and expand the scope of respondents to make the results more representative.
