Abstract
Low psychological well-being among students increases the risk of anxiety, depression, and academic burnout, which can negatively affect academic performance and social life. This issue is more prevalent among engineering students, who face higher academic demands, heavy workloads, and different social interaction patterns compared to other majors. Social support from family, friends, and the campus environment is considered an important factor in enhancing psychological well-being. This study aims to analyze the effect of social support on the psychological well-being of engineering students. Using a quantitative method with proportionate stratified random sampling, data were collected from 361 engineering students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. Results indicate that social support significantly improves psychological well-being, with support from significant others, particularly lecturers, emerging as the strongest predictor. These findings highlight the crucial role of social support in maintaining students’ mental health and suggest the need for universities to strengthen support systems for students. Further research is recommended to explore additional factors influencing psychological well-being among engineering students.
