Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic infectious disease caused by
Mycobacterium tuberculosis, attacking the lungs and other organs. In 2023,
Indonesia recorded 1,060,000 new cases with high mortality rates and low treatment
coverage. Children are vulnerable to TB with symptoms that are difficult to detect.
Pediatric TB treatment includes a combination of drugs such as isoniazid,
rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol according to the dosage. Despite an
increase in case detection, TB control still requires greater efforts, especially in
prevention and therapy.
Objective: to determine the pattern of intensive phase anti-tuberculosis drug use in
pediatric patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at Kediri District General Hospital,
including the type, dosage, combination, and interval of drug administration.
Method: This study used a retrospective descriptive method with total sampling
technique on 30 medical record data of pediatric patients who underwent intensive
phase tuberculosis treatment in 2024.
