Abstract
Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) often face emotional instability due to the pressures of living in a foreign country, such as economic demands, cultural adaptation difficulties, and a lack of social support. Many PMI feel frustrated because the reality of work does not meet their expectations, they lose direction in life due to an uncertain future, and they find it difficult to build trust in a new social environment. These various pressures can disrupt emotional balance and life satisfaction, thereby impacting the low subjective well-being of PMI. PMI still have the opportunity to achieve high subjective well-being if they can develop a sense of gratitude in their daily lives. This study aims to investigate the influence of gratitude on subjective well- being among PMI in Malaysia. Participants in this study were PMI working in Malaysia, aged 17 years or older, of both male and female genders. Data collection used non-probability sampling with accidental sampling, with a total of 129 respondents. The instruments used in this study were the Gratitude Scale, Positive & Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), and Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS). The data analysis technique used in this study was simple linear regression. The results of this study indicate a significant influence of gratitude on subjective well-being among migrant workers, with a beta value of 3.348 and a p-value of
<0.000. This finding suggests that the higher the level of gratitude, the higher the subjective well-being. This study recommends the development of gratitude-based psychological interventions to support the well-being of migrant workers.
