Abstract
Hardcore music is a popular genre among teenager within underground subcultures and is often accompanied by moshing or violence dance, which are aggressive movements that can pose a danger to individuals. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and aggressive behavior among hardcore music fans. The research employed a quantitative approach with a non-experimental correlational design. A total of 200 respondents were selected using convenience sampling. The instruments used were the Self-Control Scale by Averill, adapted by Al Firdaus (2024) and the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ). Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. The results revealed a significant negative correlation between self-control and aggressive behavior (r = -0.690, p < 0.001). This indicates that the higher an individual's level of self-control, the lower their tendency to behave aggressively. These findings highlight the important role of self-control in reducing aggressive behavior among listeners of emotionally intense music such as hardcore.
