Abstract

The development of increasingly modern times has brought many major changes in human life, especially in the field of technology. Technology that continues to develop rapidly has brought human life into the digital era. This digital era is characterized by easy access to information and communication. This ease of communication also has an impact on shifting human social life and reducing human social nature in the environment. One of the changes that has emerged is the increasing use of smartphones in daily activities including when in social situations. This phenomenon has led to phone snubbing (phubbing) behavior or the act of ignoring people around us or direct social interaction by focusing more on mobile devices. This study aims to determine the relationship between boredom proneness and phubbing behavior in early adults. The research was conducted using a correlational quantitative method involving 467 respondents who were early adult individuals. Respondents in this study were taken using purposive sampling technique with the criteria of smartphone users at least 6 hours per day. Data collection was carried out online via google form with 2 instruments used, namely the Boredom Proneness Scale and the Generic Scale of Phubbing. Data analysis was performed using Pearson correlation. The results of the research analysis showed a significant positive relationship
