Abstract
The crime of theft is a type of crime that very often occurs in every place in Indonesia, therefore it is very logical that the crime of theft is the highest crime in the order of criminal cases. The formulation of the problem of this research will discuss how law enforcement is carried out by the police against cases of motor vehicle theft in the jurisdiction of the Malang City Police and what factors support and hinder law enforcement by the police against motor vehicle theft in the jurisdiction of the Malang City Police. The purpose of this study was to determine the law enforcement carried out by the police and the factors that hinder the
rampant motorcycle theft in Malang City. The type of research conducted was using a sociological juridical method approach with data collection techniques through documentation and interviews. The results of this study indicate that in line with the high quantity of motorcycles, this also increases the crime of motorcycle theft in society. What is done in the crime of motor vehicle theft, the perpetrator already knows that the act committed is an act that violates the law and can be subject to criminal sanctions, but the perpetrator still does it because in his life he has no
other choice in choosing a job. Law enforcement against perpetrators of crimes including motorcycle theft must receive appropriate sanctions, this is to create a deterrent effect on the perpetrators and also other communities. In Malang City, the worst case occurred in Lowokwaru District, where cases of motor vehicle theft have increased every year. Compiled from data from the Malang City Police. The conclusion of the study is expected to provide an appropriate picture law enforcement carried out by the Malang Police and the obstacles faced in overcoming the crime of motorcycle theft.
