Abstract
Adolescent bullying is a global issue with serious consequences for physical and mental health, including in Indonesia. This behavior is linked to parenting styles practiced at home. The present study aimed to examine the relationship between three parenting styles authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive and bullying behavior among adolescents. Using a correlational quantitative design, data were collected from 251 high school students through accidental sampling. Instruments used included the Parenting Style and Dimension Questionnaire (PSDQ) and the Olweus Bully/Victim Questionnaire (OBVQ), with data analyzed using the Spearman Rho correlation test. Results indicated that the authoritative parenting style was the most prevalent (72.9%) and showed no significant correlation with bullying behavior (p > 0.05). Similarly, neither the permissive (8.4%) nor authoritarian (18.7%) styles were significantly associated with bullying (p > 0.05). These findings suggest that parenting style may not be the primary factor influencing bullying behavior. The study highlights the need to consider adolescents' external factor and recommends strengthened collaboration between parents and schools to foster a supportive and healthy social climate.
