Abstract

Academic procrastination is a common problem among college students, characterized by the habit of delaying tasks, which can negatively impact academic performance and psychological well-being. This phenomenon is influenced by various factors, one of which is peer conformity. College students who tend to follow their peers' behavior without proper self-regulation are more likely to delay completing their assignments. Academic procrastination can be influenced by peer conformity, but the relationship between the two is known to be inconsistent, as evidenced by the strength or weakness of the correlation that occurs. The study aims to investigate the mediating role of SRL in the influence of peer conformity on academic procrastination among college students. This research uses a non-experimental quantitative approach. The study subjects are active college students at the undergraduate level, minimum seventh semester, with a total of 370 students aged 20–27 years. The research instruments used were the Academic Procrastination Scale (APS) by McCloskey (2011), the Conformity Scale by Mehrabian and Stefl (1995), and the Self-Regulated Learning Scale (SRLS) by Wolters (2003). Data analysis was conducted using the Process by Hayes model 4. The results of the study indicate that SRL acts as a mediator in the influence of peer conformity on academic procrastination.
