Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the influence of financial literacy, financial behavior, and impulsive buying on personal financial management among students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang who use the DANA application. The phenomenon of easy access to financial technology, such as the DANA e-wallet, underscores the urgency of this research, as it presents new challenges in managing students’ finances in the digital era. This study employs a quantitative approach with a survey method using an online questionnaire and a purposive sampling technique. The total sample analyzed consists of 216 respondents. Data processing was conducted using the Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate that financial literacy and financial behavior have a positive and significant effect on personal financial management, while impulsive buying has a negative yet significant effect on personal financial management. These findings suggest that improving financial understanding and adopting good financial behavior can enhance students’ ability to manage their personal finances more effectively, particularly in the use of digital wallet applications.
