Abstract

Hemas Ayu Pratiwi. 2025. Dubbing the Film “Nussa: The Movie” from Indonesian to Arabic; Arabic Language Education Study Program; Faculty of Islamic Studies; University of Muhammadiyah Malang; Supervisor: Anisatu Thoyyibah, S.Hum., M.Hum.
This portfolio project aims to apply audiovisual translation skills through the dubbing activity of the film “Nussa: The Movie” from Indonesian to Arabic. This film was chosen because its content contains Islamic and educational values, and has been widely known by children in Indonesia. Through this activity, the author tries to transform the moral messages in the film into Arabic audio that remains communicative, natural, and in accordance with the target cultural context. This study applies the theory of translation techniques from Vinay and Darbelnet including literal translation, transposition, modulation, adaptation, reduction, and amplification. The steps taken include analyzing the content of the film, compiling transcripts using the help of Subdl.com and manual compilation, translating dialogues into Arabic with the help of an online dictionary and lecturer guidance, recording sound using voice-over, and editing and synchronization using the CapCut application. The results of the project show that the dubbing process is not just a language translation, but also requires linguistic accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and technical skills in audiovisual editing. The main challenges faced include lip synchronization, selecting appropriate intonation, and processing the voice to sound natural. This project is expected to be an interesting alternative media for learning Arabic, while encouraging students to develop skills in audiovisual translation more creatively and applicatively.
