Abstract
This research examines the value of the activities of Muslim Indian converts as a minority activity amidst the majority Hindu Indian community in Medan City. The activities carried out in this study are based on the perspective of the theory of symbolic interactionism which rests on three premises, namely Humans act towards something based on the meanings that something has for them, the meaning comes from a person's social interaction with others and these meanings are refined during the process of social interaction. This research involves seven people who have sufficient knowledge and provide views on the activities of ethnic Indian converts in Medan City. data collection is in-depth interviews and documentation. The research findings show that the social activities carried out by the Muslim Indian muallaf ethnic community in Medan City always exist and it is always possible that there is a double reality, namely on the one hand the Muslim Indian muallaf ethnic community in Medan City has a system arranged between religion and tradition for everything that is real in reality and on the other hand there is a normative system in which there is a mentality that imagines everything that should be done. The factual and normative systems are actually not two identical realities but separate from each other. In conclusion, the social activities of converts are carried out through the transmission of values, namely education about religion, worship, as well as social and moral aspects.
