Abstract
This study examines the role of the International Labour Organization (ILO) as an international organization under the auspices of the United Nations in addressing the problem of child labor in Senegal. Senegal is one of the countries in West Africa with a high rate of child labor, where many children are forced to work in dangerous conditions due to economic, social, and cultural pressures. This study uses a qualitative approach with the conceptual framework of the Role of International Organizations, as well as the theory of Children's Rights, to analyze the contribution of the ILO through its international program, namely the International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labor (IPEC). The analysis was conducted using the International Cooperation Forum, Negotiation and Decision-Making Means, and Independent Institutions for Implementing Humanitarian and Social Activities. The results of the study indicate that the ILO has successfully carried out its role as a function as an implementer of humanitarian and social activities, which is seen as the most strengthening of national capacity, as well as cooperation with the Senegalese government in efforts to eliminate child labor. However, challenges such as poverty, weak law enforcement, and limited access to education remain major obstacles in reducing the number of child labor significantly. This study emphasizes the importance of the role of international organizations in promoting the protection of children's rights and provides recommendations so that efforts to eliminate child labor in Senegal can be carried out sustainably and appropriately in facing the problem.
