STUDI PEMELIHARAAN IKAN KOI (Cyprinus carpio) UNTUK SHOW DI SARGON KOI CENTRE KABUPATEN BLITAR SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR BIOLOGI

Koi (Cyprinus carpio) are a type of ornamental fish with high aesthetic and economic value, especially when kept for show purposes. Judging criteria in koi contests include color, pattern, body shape, movement, and overall health of the fish. Therefore, proper maintenance techniques are crucial in producing show quality koi.
This study aims to examine koi maintenance techniques used by hobbyists and breeders in preparing koi for competitions. To obtain good koi offspring that meet show standards, quality broodstock is selected. The characteristics of quality broodstock are selected from broodstock that have won contests, with the three strains that most frequently participate in shows being kohaku, showa, and sanke. The research method was carried out through direct interviews with the owner and manager of the Sargon Koi Center, and observation to determine the body size of the koi that will participate in the show. The research results show that raising koi for show requires specific standards and treatment that differ from raising regular koi. The main factors influencing contest quality include selecting quality broodstock, providing pond media, feeding patterns, health management, rearing techniques, and maintaining patterns and colors, as found at the Sargon Koi Center.
