Abstract

This study aims to produce Indonesian takarirs for an Arabic ‘Āmiyah
animated video titled "Mughāmarāt Mansour: Halaqāt al-Bahr", which has not yet
been made available in the target language, and to systematically describe the
translation process involved. The background of this research is rooted in the needs
of Arabic language learners, particularly beginners, for contextual and
communicative learning materials. As an audiovisual medium, animated videos
offer distinct advantages in presenting vocabulary, expressions, and cultural
nuances in a natural and authentic context.
The research was conducted in three main stages: planning, production, and
editing. The process began with an analysis of the animation and the selection of
supporting software such as TurboScribe and Subtitle Edit. This was followed by
the transcription of dialogue, translation of the text using linguistic and cultural
approaches, and synchronization of the takarirs with the visual dialogue. During the
translation process, techniques such as cultural adaptation, transposition,
modulation, simplification, and idiomatic substitution were employed to produce a
communicative and comprehensible translation for the target audience.
The final result of this study is a set of Indonesian takarirs that are accurate,
natural, and culturally appropriate. This project demonstrates that subtitling is not
merely a technical task but requires cultural sensitivity, contextual understanding,
and collaboration. In addition to its practical contribution in the form of a translated
product, this research also serves as a model for the application of translation theory
in the audiovisual context, particularly for use in foreign language education.
