Abstract

In the hospitality industry, employee performance is an important factor that determines the success of services and increases hotel occupancy. This study aims to analyze the effect of transformational leadership style on employee performance with organizational culture as a mediating variable. The research was conducted at Royal Hotel & Villa Batu with a quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with the Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The results showed that transformational leadership style has a positive and significant effect on organizational culture and employee performance. However, organizational culture does not have a significant direct effect on employee performance. Nevertheless, organizational culture is proven to significantly mediate the effect of transformational leadership style on employee performance. This study confirms the importance of inspirational leadership and a strong organizational culture in improving employee performance in the hospitality work environment. Therefore, hotel management needs to develop a transformational leadership style supported by a positive organizational culture to create a productive work environment and support the company's competitiveness.
