Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the work environment on
intention to stay, with job satisfaction serving as a mediating variable, among young lecturers at public universities in Malang City. The High turnover rate among young lecturers highlights the importance of creating a supportive work environment and improving job satisfaction to retain academic human resources.A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method, and data were analysis through path analysis. The sample consisted of 60 young lecturers selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that the work environment has a significant positive effect on intention to stay, both directly and indirectly through job satisfaction. Job satisfaction is proven to mediate the relationship between the work environment and intention to stay. Thus, a positive, collaborative and productive work environment tends to increase the satisfaction of young lecturers so that their intention to stay with the institution increases.
