Abstract

Laboratorium Bahrul Maghfiroh faces efficiency challenges in its patient examination business process, which relies on a legacy system. The existing processes, such as manual registration, the requirement for patients to return for specific tests that necessitate special preparations like fasting, physical collection of lab results, and face-to-face consultations, are identified as inefficient. An analysis of the initial business process, based on ASME standards and throughput efficiency calculations, revealed a total time of 698 minutes with an efficiency rate of 87.82%, indicating significant room for optimization. This research aims to reengineer the business process using the Business Process Reengineering (BPR) method with an ESIA (Eliminate, Simplify, Integrate, Automate) approach. The result is a new proposed business process that leverages information technology. The proposed improvements include online registration and payment, digital dissemination of examination information to allow for prior patient preparation, online queue monitoring, delivery of test results via a website, and facilities for online consultation with doctors or analysts. This solution is materialized in the form of a website interface prototype for both patients and administrators. The reengineered process successfully reduced the total process time to 115 minutes, achieving a throughput efficiency of 100%. The comparison between the initial and the recommended business processes shows a time efficiency improvement of 583 minutes. This significant enhancement demonstrates that business process reengineering, integrated with technology, successfully resolves time-inefficiency issues and drastically improves the service performance for patient examinations at Laboratorium Bahrul Maghfiroh.
