Abstract
Educational programs such as Clash of Champions are an educational show in the midst of the proliferation of unconstructive shows in this era of technological advancement. In the Clash of Champions (COC) program, the audience does not only focus on the game show as the core of the program. But on the other hand they admire and favor the participants. This study aims to see if there is a relationship between parasocial interaction and academic motivation. The research method used is quantitative correlation with purposive sampling technique, involving 306 active students who apply for the COC program. Data collection was done through Parasocial Interaction Scale and Academic Motivation Scale instruments. The results of Spearman correlation analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between face-to-face desire and academic motivation with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05) and a significant relationship between intimacy and academic motivation with a significance value of 0.007 (p < 0.05). Then, there is an insignificant relationship between guidance and academic motivation with a significance value of 0.701 (p> 0.05) and an insignificant relationship between familiarity and academic motivation with a significance value of 0.375 (p> 0.05).
