Abstract

Harjokuncaran Village, located in Sumbermanjing Wetan District, has significant potential in the coffee plantation sector, with approximately 100 hectares of cultivated land. However, suboptimal post-harvest processes remain a major constraint that hampers productivity and the quality of yields. One innovative solution that can be implemented is the use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology through a Solar Dryer Portable system equipped with temperature and moisture monitoring sensors. This study aims to analyze the Quality of Service (QoS) levels of the MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) protocol in relation to the reliability of data transmission from IoT devices to the monitoring server. Testing was conducted by comparing three QoS levels (0, 1, and 2) based on two key parameters: latency and packet loss. The experiment involved sending 500 and 1000 messages for each QoS level and analyzing the results using Tcpdump and Wireshark. The findings show that the higher the QoS level, the higher the latency, although all levels demonstrated 0% packet loss. QoS 0 is suitable for non-critical data, while QoS 1 and 2 are more appropriate for important transmissions. This research provides technical recommendations for efficient and reliable MQTT configuration to support the productivity of coffee farmers through an IoT-based drying system.
