Abstract

This research seeks to examine the influence of financial literacy and risk perception on cryptocurrency investment decisions, with Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) as a mediating variable in Generation Z in Indonesia. The phenomenon of increasing participation of the younger generation in digital asset investment is often not only based on rational considerations, but also influenced by social and emotional pressures. This research adopts a quantitative methodology and utilizes a survey approach involving 266 Generation Z participants, aged between 18 and 30, who are actively engaged in cryptocurrency investments. Data analysis was performed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS SEM) technique. The findings indicate that both financial literacy and risk perception significantly influence investment decision-making, not only through direct effects but also indirectly via the mediating role of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO).This finding confirms that psychological factors such as FoMO have an important role in shaping the digital investment behavior of the younger generation. The implications of the results of this study are expected to be input for regulators, financial institutions, and educational institutions in designing financial literacy improvement strategies that are not only rational but also sensitive to the emotional aspects of the digital generation.
