Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic leadership on teacher performance by mediation of work discipline at SDI Nurul Bayan Fullday School Sumenep Madura. The importance of leadership based on Islamic values in creating a productive educational environment, as well as the role of discipline as a determining factor for the effectiveness of teacher performance. This study was motivated by the existence of some teachers who neglect their obligations, such as lack of teaching preparation, coming and going home not complying with school hours and procedures, and absences without a clear reason. And in practice, it was found that there was a discrepancy between the Islamic vision of the institution and the Islamic leadership style applied. This study uses a quantitative approach, with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to 42 respondents. The data analysis method uses the help of Structural Equation Modeling – Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software to test the role of work discipline in mediating the relationship between Islamic leadership and teacher performance. The results of this study show that Islamic leadership has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, Islamic leadership has a positive and significant effect on teacher work discipline, work discipline has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, and work discipline can mediate the influence of Islamic leadership on teacher performance. Therefore, strengthening Islamic leadership and work discipline needs to be the main concern in the strategy to improve the quality of education in Islamic-based schools.
