Abstract
The purpose of this research is to understand the efforts of the community in
Gonggang Village to address the attacks of long-tailed monkeys on residents'
agricultural land. Therefore, this research is titled "Community Efforts in
Gonggang Village to Mitigate Long-Tailed Monkey Attacks on Residents'
Agricultural Land." This study employs a qualitative research method, with the
researcher conducting observations in Gonggang Village and in the hamlet affected
by the long-tailed monkeys. The data collected is analyzed using Talcott Parsons'
Structural Functional Theory with its four AGIL concepts (Adaptation, Goal
Attainment, Integration, and Latency). The results of this study indicate that to
mitigate the attacks of long-tailed monkeys, the community and the Gonggang
Village Government undertake several actions as forms of adaptation, such as
shooting the long-tailed monkeys that attack agricultural land, bringing in dogs,
consulting with paranormal experts, mass tree cutting, setting traps, using
explosives or firecrackers, and planting tobacco in residents' agricultural land. The
goal attainment of these actions is to reduce the population of long-tailed monkeys
and ensure that farmers achieve maximum agricultural yields. To realize this goal
attainment, the community and the Gonggang Village Government engage in
integration by collaborating with the Forest Village Community Institution
(LMDH), as there has been no involvement or responsibility from the Perhutani or
the Environmental Agency (DLH) to date. Consequently, the LMDH formulates a
latency policy, which involves planting fruit-bearing trees as a food reserve for the
long-tailed monkeys.
