Abstract
Background: ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) is a serious life-threatening condition that occurs due to total or partial blockage of the coronary artery causing severe myocardial ischemia and death of myocardial tissue. Global data shows that STEMI is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the world with morbidity and mortality rates increasing along with unhealthy modern lifestyles (Rupture, 2024). Objective: The objective of writing this scientific paper is to analyze the effectiveness of improving oxygenation status in STEMI patients with semi-Fowler position and nasal cannula interventions. Method: Data that has been collected comprehensively from patients managed in this case study was then analyzed descriptively using the nursing care method. This descriptive analysis focuses on research facts related to interview findings and observations conducted on the patient's family. Results: In the assessment of Mr. D and Mr. H, the results of improved breathing patterns were obtained after the semi-fowler position and nasal cannula oxygenation therapy were given. This was proven by an increase in oxygen saturation (SpO2), a decrease in respiratory rate values, and a decrease in the level of shortness of breath. Conclusion: The nursing interventions carried out, namely by providing a semi-fowler position and nasal cannula, were proven to be effective in dealing with nursing problems in ineffective breathing patterns in patients with complaints of shortness of breath, as evidenced by the fulfillment of the expected outcome criteria.
