Abstract
Background: Non-ST segment Elevation Myocard Infarction (NSTEMI) is a
partial occlusion of a coronary artery without involving the entire thickness of the
myocardium so that there is not ST segment elevation on the ECG.
Methods: This study aims to analyze breathing patterns before and after a
combination of semi-Fowler position and oxygen administration to improve
breathing patterns in Non-ST Segment Elevation Myocard Infarction (NSTEMI).
Research Methods: The research method used in preparing this Final Scientific
Peper uses a case study report. The author follows the scientific method in
accordance with the principles of the nursing process which includes: assessment,
data analysis, nursing implementation and evaluation which refers to SDKI, SLKI,
and SIKI. The assessment process uses data collection with interview studies,
observation, documentation.
Results: After providing nursing care for 3x24 hours, the author raised one priority
nursing diagnosis, namely: Ineffective breathing pattern for the patient to apply a
combination of the semi-Fowler position and administering oxygen to the patient’s
ineffective breathing pattern Non-ST Segment Elevation Myocard Infarction
(NSTEMI).
Conclusion: The results of the case study showed that there was an increase in
oxygen saturation, a decrease in respiratory frequemcy towards normal in the
patient, 19x/minute. The patient’s oxygen saturation is 99%. So the semi-Fowler
position and oxygen administration can be recommended for Non-ST Segment
Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI) patients who experience ineffective
breathing patterens related to respiratory effort limitations.
