Abstract

The Special Forest Management Area (KHdPK) of Tlekung is part of a social
forestry program aimed at involving local communities in sustainable forest
conservation. This study aims to analyze the structure and composition of
vegetation in KHdPK Tlekung, Batu City, East Java. The research employed a
vegetation analysis method using a transect line and sample plots set for four growth
stages: seedlings (2×2 m), saplings (5×5 m), poles (10×10 m), and trees (20×20 m).
The analysis was conducted by calculating density, frequency, dominance, and the
importance value index (IVI). The results showed that the dominant species at the
tree level were Pinus merkusii Jungh. & de Vriese, Trema orientalis (L.) Blume,
and Engelhardia spicata Lechen ex Blume; at the pole level: Engelhardia spicata
Lechen ex Blume, Heptapleurum heptaphyllum (L.) Y.F.Deng, and Archidendron
clypearia (Jack) I.C.Nielsen; at the sapling level: Ficus fistulosa Reinw. ex Blume,
Archidendron clypearia (Jack) I.C.Nielsen, and Heptapleurum heptaphyllum (L.)
Y.F.Deng; and at the seedling level: Heptapleurum heptaphyllum (L.) Y.F.Deng,
Archidendron clypearia (Jack) I.C.Nielsen, and Ficus fistulosa Reinw. ex Blume.
These findings indicate that the aforementioned species exhibit strong adaptability
and dominance within the KHdPK Tlekung vegetation community. The results may
serve as a basis for future sustainable forest management and conservation
strategies in the area.
