Abstract
This Research disscuses German foreign policy in the context of deploying warships to the Indo-Pacific region in 2024, in response to evolving geopolitical dynamics, particularly China’s increasing political and military influence. Within the framework of the security dilemma theory and the concept of relative gains, this study explains that Germany’s changing perception of China as a systemic challenge drives the adoption of an active engagement strategy, through the deployment of the frigate Baden-Württemberg and the logistics ship Frankfurt am Main. This study uses a qualitative method with an explanatory approach and literature study. The main findings show that Germany is experiencing a security dilemma resulting in a change in perception of China and also Germany is trying to secure its national interests in trade, maritime security, and regional stability.
