Abstract
This study aims to evaluate soil health in coffee plantations in Pujon District, Malang Regency, by quantitatively analyzing soil physical and chemical properties. Soil samples were collected from two different slopes: Mount Argowayang and Mount Kawi. The analyzed parameters included texture, water holding capacity, moisture content, pH, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), and soil organic carbon (SOC). Results showed clay texture dominance (89.96–91.05%) and very high water holding capacity (52.43–59.82%). Soil pH ranged from 6.05 to 6.15 (neutral), suitable for coffee. However, actual moisture content was low (17.02–20.34%). Nitrogen content was very low (0.011–0.0195%), while phosphorus and potassium were very high (1.055–1.135% and 1.04–1.25%, respectively). Organic carbon was low (1.62–1.9%). Overall, the soil health score was 4 out of 8, classified as moderate. These findings underline the importance of organic matter application and proper nitrogen fertilization to sustainably improve soil health.
