OLAHRAGA BULU TANGKIS SEBAGAI DIPLOMASI OLAHRAGA PUBLIK DALAM MEMBENTUK CITRA INDONESIA TAHUN 2021-2024

This study analyzes the role of badminton as a tool of public sports diplomacy in shaping Indonesia's image as a high-achieving nation in 2021-2024. This study uses a qualitative approach and the concept of public sports diplomacy by Stuart Murray, with the aim of shaping perceptions of the country's image. The results of this study, with the role of Indonesian badminton athletes and athlete development by PBSI through their achievements during the 2021-2024 period, becoming champions of major badminton tournaments as Tokyo Olympics 2020, bronze at the Paris Olympics 2024, 2022-2024 All England, and at the Thomas Cup 2020 adding to Indonesia's record as the most successful country in the Thomas Cup with 14 championship titles and Indonesia's 8 gold medals in the Olympic badminton sport. In addition, the role of local and international media that covered Indonesia's badminton achievements, expanded the reach of diplomacy and Indonesian badminton athletes contributed greatly to shaping international public perception of Indonesia's image as an high-achieving nation in 2021-2024. In addition to showing its image as a high-achieving country through its achievements, holding international badminton tournaments in Indonesia also provides a positive legacy and reputation as a host that can be trusted in organizing and managing major international events.
