Abstract

This study aims to analyze the trend of tobacco production in East Java Province from 2018 to 2022 and to evaluate the future prospects for tobacco development in the region. East Java is the largest tobacco-producing province in Indonesia, contributing over 50% to the national output and playing a vital role in the tobacco product industry. The research utilizes secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Ministry of Agriculture, and other relevant sources, employing time series analysis to identify production patterns and developments. The results indicate a significant upward trend in tobacco production during the study period, supported by the expansion of cultivated areas and increased farming efficiency. Nevertheless, price fluctuations and climate change remain key challenges affecting productivity and the sector’s sustainability. The prospects for tobacco development in East Java are considered promising, both domestically and internationally, provided that product diversification and innovation are prioritized to address regulatory pressures and changing consumption patterns. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for policymakers and stakeholders in formulating sustainable development strategies for the tobacco sector
