Abstract
Horticultural crops with relatively large areas of land distributed across Indonesia include apples, which are a leading commodity in several regions, particularly in Batu City. Although apples have long been an icon of Batu City, this has not prevented a decline in apple production. This decline occurs due to various factors that emerge each year. The purpose of this study is to analyze the production trend of apples in Batu City and determine whether it is increasing, decreasing, or stagnant based on existing data, as well as to examine the influence of other factors contributing to production fluctuations. This study employs a quantitative method for the first objective and a qualitative approach for the second. All secondary data were obtained from BPS Batu City, the Department of Manpower, the Department of Agriculture, and other relevant literature sources. The data analysis method used for the first objective is regression analysis, while the second objective is addressed through bibliometric analysis using Biblioshiny software, with visualization carried out using VOSviewer. The trend in apple production in Batu City over the past six years has shown a consistent negative fluctuation, indicating a continuous annual decline in production. The bibliometric analysis found that the most frequently discussed factors related to the fluctuations in production include apples, business strategy, product processing, and splant growth rates. The concentration of studies conducted in Malang and its surrounding areas indicates a significant focus by local researchers on this issue, beginning several years before the COVID-19 pandemic. This suggests that the decline in apple production began during those years. This research can serve as a reference for apple farmers and relevant institutions in addressing the ongoing issues by focusing on the most critical topics, thus enabling more effective and efficient solutions.
