Abstract
Background: The increase in the number of vehicles can contributes to the growth of service industries such as vehicle washing. However, this phenomenon may also lead to health issues, particularly occupational contact dermatitis. Occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) is an inflammatory condition of the skin caused by exposure to external irritants or allergenic substances from work activities or the work environment.
Objective: To find out the risk factors associated with and the most influential factors contributing to occupational contact dermatitis among car and motorcycle was employees in Malang city.
Methode: This study used observational analytics method with cross sectional approach. Data analysis was performed using Fisher's Exact Test and logistic regression.
Result: The result of Fisher's Exact Test showed p-value <0,05 for the variables duration of contact, frequency of contact, personal hygiene, and the use of PPE. Furthermore, logistic regression analysis showed that personal hygiene was the only variable with p-value <0,05 when tested alongside with other variables.
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between duration of contact, frequency of contact, personal hygiene, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) with occupational contact dermatitis. Personal hygiene is the most influential factor in the incidence of occupational contact dermatitis (OCD) among car and motorcycle wash employees in Malang city.
