Abstract
Background: Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a global health issue commonly
complicated by anemia. Erythropoietin (EPO) therapy is the standard treatment to
improve hemoglobin levels.
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of EPO administration in
increasing hemoglobin (Hb) levels in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at
RSI Aisyiyah Malang.
Method: This study employed a retrospective cohort design using a total sampling
technique on 41 CKD patients who received EPO therapy at 3000 IU/week for one
month. Hemoglobin (Hb) levels before and after therapy were analyzed using a
paired T-test.
Results and Discussion: The test results showed a significant difference between
Hb levels before and after EPO therapy (p=0.004). The mean Hb level of the study
subjects significantly increased following EPO therapy administration.
Conclusion: EPO therapy at a dose of 3000 IU/week has been proven to increase
hemoglobin levels in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis.
