PERAN PAGUYUBAN RUKUN JAYA TERHADAP PERUBAHAN SOSIAL KEHIDUPAN NELAYAN DI SENDANGBIRU KABUPATEN MALANG

This study aims to understand the role of the Rukun Jaya Association in encouraging social change among fishermen in the coastal area of Sendangbiru, Malang Regency. The association serves not only as a communication and coordination platform but also as a means of community empowerment through skills training, fish product processing, and the strengthening of social solidarity. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The results indicate that the existence of the Rukun Jaya Association has triggered significant changes in social relationships, collective participation, and the mindset of fishermen from individualistic to collaborative. However, several challenges remain, including limited access to capital and low levels of education. Through its clear organizational structure and participatory leadership, the association has succeeded in enhancing solidarity and improving the socio-economic welfare of fishermen.
