Abstract
Background: Obesity has become a major global health issue, increasing the risk of noncommunicable diseases. Work stress is a common contributing factor, especially among
military personnel like the Indonesian National Army (TNI AD). Work stress can influence
emotional eating, a pattern of eating driven by emotions, which in turn may increase
obesity risk. This research is important to understand the relationship between these
variables among TNI AD members at Kodim 0822 Bondowoso to develop effective
prevention strategies.
Research Objectives: To analyze the relationship between work stress, emotional eating
behavior, and the incidence of obesity in TNI AD members at Kodim 0822 Bondowoso.
Research Method: This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach.
The sample consisted of TNI AD members at Kodim 0822 Bondowoso, selected through
purposive random sampling. Data were collected using Body Mass Index (BMI)
measurements for obesity, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) for work stress, and the Dutch
Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) for emotional eating. Data were analyzed using
Pearson correlation tests.
Research Benefits: This research is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the
factors contributing to obesity among TNI AD members. The findings can be used to
formulate effective intervention strategies for managing work stress and emotional eating
to prevent obesity and improve the overall well-being of TNI AD members.
