Abstract
Companies can optimize employee performance when well-being and job
satisfaction are met, this can encourage employees to work better and increase
loyalty to the company. Strengthening the attitude of commitment is a crucial factor
in supporting company growth. Optimal performance is rooted in strong
organizational commitment, which creates a close relationship between employees
and the company, so that employees can carry out their duties and responsibilities
according to the roles and positions they play. This study aims to analyze the effect
of employee well-being and job satisfaction on employee performance through
organizational commitment as a mediating variable at Bank BRI Kanca Jember.
This study uses a quantitative approach with the Simple Random Sampling method
involving 92 respondents of Bank BRI Kanca Jember employees to fill out the
questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial
Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method to test the relationship between variables. The
results showed that employee well-being and job satisfaction had a positive and
significant effect on employee performance and organizational commitment
directly, but if through organizational commitment a negative effect was found.
Organizational commitment acts as a negative mediator that can weaken the
positive influence of both variables. Thus, the results of this study highlight that
poorly managed organizational commitment can be a barrier, rather than a
supporter, of the positive relationship between employee well-being and job
satisfaction on employee performance.
